Description

  • The Culture Promotion Committee is honoured to present the 4th PolyU Arts Festival with the theme of "Visual Arts" - a unique, varied and ubiquitous art form. We hope that the Festival programmes will provide an eye-opening experience that will broaden both students' and staff members' artistic and cultural horizons

Opening the Festival will be an interactive programme, "Mural Painting Project" which will involve the collaborative efforts of PolyU students and staff members in the use of a wide range of mixed media including painting, jumping clay, felt art, collage and mosaic. To tie in with this, there will be a number of fringe activities aiming to teach students and staff members to create their own art-works which may, in turn, also be displayed in the mural painting

Apart from the opening programme, an exhibition series featuring renowned, local artists will be staged. These exhibitions will include ink works by Maestro Mr Lai Ming of the Chinese Lingnan School of Painting, who will also be our Artist-in-Residence for the year, and the first outdoor exhibition of the sculptures of the famous sculptor Prof. Norman Ko

Our close partners, various Consulates General in Hong Kong, have provided very valuable support in regard to one of the visual arts forms - film. They will contribute film and videos of award-winning movies, as well as films focusing on the development of the visual arts and culture of their own countries

In addition, there will also be a workshop series on visual arts including sketching and drawing, Chinese painting, glass-blowing, origami, photography and mosaic
