Description
  • A Community of Practice (COP) has been established which aims to enhance students' English ability in non-ELC subjects

  • Students entering the University at English DSE level 3 are strongly encouraged to join the ELC's Excel@English Scheme (EES). This Scheme provides students with further support in the English they will need for their tertiary studies

  • The major focus in the past year for both language centres has continued to be on the delivery and ongoing development of the four-year curriculum (4YC) language subjects. All 4YC undergraduate students are required to take a minimum of 6 credits of English and 3 credits of Chinese within the LCR, together with one or more credit-bearing Discipline Specific Requirement (DSR) language subject(s) in both Chinese and English. There are compulsory Chinese and English reading and writing components embedded in general education Cluster Area Requirement (CAR) subjects. The English Language Centre (ELC) has also developed and run three CAR subjects and one Service Learning subject
