"Hollywood Road is one of the first roads built in Hong Kong to facilitate the transport of military supplies. Legend has it that the road got its name from the numerous Holly trees growing on both sides of the road, thus forming “woods”. Later, as the residing population grew in size, a new city emerged from amidst the woods." -- Commissioner for Heritage's Office website
