Description
  • The Culture Promotion Committee of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) strives to provide an enriching campus ambience that fosters cross-cultural encounters and exchange among our students. Since its establishment in 1999, the Committee has presented an Artist-in-Residence (AIR) Programme every year. Artists from many different genres of art have been invited. The AIR Programmes create interactive experiences between artists and participants, enhancing the University community's knowledge of the featured art form in an interesting manner. This year we are honoured to present Dr Liza Wang, who has accomplished outstanding achievements in Hong Kong's art scene, as our Artist-in-Residence. In the Cantonese Opera: Beyond Tradition Exhibition, the finale event of the AIR Programme, we shall see evidence of Dr Wang's perseverance when she first took up the art of Cantonese opera, and how she did not shy away from difficulties but rather dedicated herself to the continuation, transformation and innovation of the Cantonese opera tradition. Dr Wang is certainly the leading advocate who has helped Cantonese opera live on today.
